Speaker 1:

finding God in the tough times. Jesus said those who receive and obey my instructions are those who love me. My father loves those who love me and I will love and reveal myself to them. Saint John, chapter 14, verse 21.

Speaker 1:

Joseph didn't conceal his brother's evil deeds and he didn't share their guilt. Reluctantly, he told his father what they had done, being truthful, felt good and his heart warmed ever more when his father gave him the most beautiful code he had ever seen. Twice vivid dreams raised his confidence that God had a great plan for his life. His brothers didn't share Joseph's conviction. Their resentment and envy turned into deep hatred. They stripped him and threw him into a dry system to die. Joseph's cries for mercy enabled him to escape the grave, but put him into the hands of slave traders who took him far from home. Instead of complaining, he behaved as if God were still with him, a conduct that brought conviction for a crime he had refused to commit. In prison, he earned the respect of the warden and had helped other prisoners with interpretations of their dreams.

Speaker 1:

For two more years he waited and wondered would the tough times ever get better? Like Joseph, we may question the necessity of our walk through the dark valleys and wonder if we will ever see the light. Nevertheless, if we are patient and continue to do what pleases God, we will see the fulfillment of his plan and be reassured for his love. Father, stay close to me, lord, because I don't have the answers, but I know you do those who seek to do me harm. I pray that you give them grace and mercy. I pray the wonderful name of Jesus, amen.
